Storytelling matters
"Cut through the noise,” they say. If you’re in PR, you’ve heard it a thousand times. And it’s always easier said than done. But here’s what most people don’t understand: It’s not about shouting louder than everyone else. It’s about being vulnerable enough to operate on a totally different frequency.
That’s the core of our philosophy at PB&J.
Let me introduce myself: I’m Micah, publicist and founder of Cincinnati-based creative firm PB&J. During my time in the PR sphere, I’ve seen and heard it all – trust me. Years ago, my journey began in the offices of an NYC lifestyle firm, where I cut my teeth with the support of mentors who believed in my spark.
Then, somewhere in the middle of the 2008 financial crisis, my chapter with said firm came to an end. When I, along with the rest of the world, turned to face an uncertain future, I realized that I had a chance to branch out on my own: A chance to start a new firm, from scratch, focused on the art of storytelling. It was a huge risk, of course…but as those things go, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with hundreds of diverse clients, big and small. (Proctor & Gamble, Deckorators, Commercial Vehicle Group and New Riff Distillery to name a few. More on that later – but if you’re curious, you can check out some of our best work here.
All this time, I’ve been animating brand identities behind the scenes. Now, I’m finally ready to pull back the curtain and start sharing all of the PR insights I’ve gained along the way. Stay tuned for tips, tricks, anecdotes and, of course, the occasional hot take.
