Travel + Leisure’s Stay in the Queen City

When PB&J hosted Travel + Leisure editors in Cincinnati in February of 2019, a crafted introduction to Cincinnati’s best tastes and places solidified the city’s spot on the ‘The Best Places to Travel in 2021’ list and two-page spread in January’s print issue.

Now available online, we breakdown a few of Travel + Leisure’s recommendations below featuring PB&J clients: Please, 21c Museum Hotel, Metropole, Salazar and Goose & Elder

Hotels with Taste

If you’re just in town for a weekend — or even a quick staycation — getting to knock out two birds with one stone is always a win. Which is why Travel + Leisure made sure to mention Cincinnati’s 21c Museum Hotel which not only boasts an impressive collection of contemporary art, changing seasonally, but also an equally creative menu by Vanessa Miller built around Ohio Valley grown produce at Metropole.

Please and Thank You

Tucked away, off of 14th street in Over-the-Rhine, the little restaurant that could, Please, first enchanted Travel + Leisure editors in NYC while hosting a dinner at The James Beard House. That initial connection prompted a follow up visit by editors and its eventual spot on their list. Chef Ryan Santos is always pushing the boundaries of modern cuisine, inspired from his culinary experiences both stateside and overseas in Copenhagen.

His dishes are both whimsical and technically precise, incorporating haute interpretations of regional specialties like aebleskiver (apple popovers) or potluck favorite goetta, and addictive meatloaf bound with steel-cut oats. – Sara B. Franklin, Travel + Leisure

A Cincinnati Fixture
Jose Salazar’s namesake restaurant, Salazar, as well as his newest venture, Goose & Elder, made Travel + Leisure’s list. The Colombian-born chef moved to Ohio after earning his chops in New York City and has since earned multiple James Beard Award nominations. Salazar sits on a quiet street, a quick walk from Music Hall, and features an eclectic menu that crosses cultural boundaries. Goose & Elder offers a casual menu, perfect for brunching post a leisurely stroll through Findlay Market.
